  • All employees working in desert locations should know the following safety policies of work in desert:
    • Ambulance procedures.
    • Work permits procedures.
    • Explosive ordnance safety rules.
    • Personal protective equipment.
    • Other safety regulations which pertain to the work assignment.
  • Before driving in the desert: the vehicle should be inspected and equipment for travelling in the desert should be obtained.
  • All employees must be prepared for desert weather conditions and temperature. Supervisors must inform employees of desert hazards during winter (i.e low temperature and high winds, low visibility) and summer (i.e extreme heat of 55″ C or higher, heat stress, and high winds).
  • High wind is a constant hazard especially due to poor visibility and the potential of eye injuries. All drivers must drive slowly and all employees must have eye protection in use.
  • Also remember that there are animals, reptiles and insects in the desert such as dog packs, snakes (some poisonous) and scorpions which can be dangerous if you Work In Desert.  so Be watchful and do not attempt to handle or catch desert animals, reptiles or insects.
  • If someone is bitten by insects then  need to contact client emergency number for immediate assistance. Keep the person calm and lying still. A doctor or paramedic will give you advice on the radio concerning first aid.
  • Always remember explosive ordnance safety rules. Do not touch suspicious items if you found & if you found then Report suspected ordnance to your supervisor immediately.
